Bangladesh Hockey Finishes 7th at Asian Games: 3-0 Win Over Thailand But Olympic Dream Ends
Bangladesh's national hockey team secured 7th place at the Asian Games after defeating Thailand 3-0 at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium in Japan. While the win brought relief, Bangladesh's Olympic qualification path has effectively closed. The Asian Games champion earns a direct Olympic berth, and Bangladesh was eliminated from that race long ago. A 7th-place finish means no medal and no direct Olympic spot. To play in the next Asian Games, Bangladesh must pass a qualifying round, signaling that the competitive door for lower-ranked nations is narrowing.
